Harriet
Harriet is a little female I photographed when we were bushwalking through the Sherbrooke Forest in the Dandenong Ranges in Victoria. She was only young and very comfortable around humans. The sound of kookaburras resonating through the bush is so typically Australian. We hear them often in our town and they always give me a happy heart.
Kookaburras have learned to live alongside humans and are often seen in suburban areas.
In favourable conditions kookaburras can live for more than 20 years and have the same partner for life.
